Temagami, Ontario - 9/16/2024

Trip Day 11 - Monday

0630-64F/59F.

0840-Study complete. Verse of the day: "This is why I speak to them in parables: "Though seeing, they do not see; though hearing, they do not hear or understand. In them is fulfilled the prophecy of Isaiah: "'You will be ever hearing but never understanding; you will be ever seeing but never perceiving. For this people's heart has become calloused; they hardly hear with their ears, and they have closed their eyes. Otherwise they might see with their eyes, hear with their ears, understand with their hearts and turn, and I would heal them."
(Mat 13:13-15)

Time for breakfast then go ashore to retrieve my chair, remaining firewood, and depart for Bleue Baie.

1110-Arrived at the remote site at Bleue Baie, traveled through the "Amazon River Maze" for a total of 5.5 miles. Thank you Lord the boat site was open!

Tied Up - Solar Panels Tilted

I secured the boat, then put the cameras and mics on their chargers. I raised the solar panels to maximize solar watts then carried firewood up to the fireplace. Reset the rocks of the fireplace for better wind protection. Split the wood hoping it would dry more since it was wet. The wood I picked up at the river camp site pretty much fizzled last night due to the high moisture content.

Trying To Dry Out Wet Firewood

Oriented the boat for more direct sun.

Capturing Watts With Panels

There is a breeze blowing. 77F/80F. Still a hot day!  Dishes are waiting.

1315-Dishes finished. Now relaxing on the boat with a gentle fall breeze blowing through the boat. 79F/82F.

1410-Planned an approximate route for the final legs of the trip. I will stay here 2 nights and then head to "Babe" peninsula. I will not reveal why the name. It is a group canoeist's choice stop so I hope I won't find others there.

Relaxing Onshore

1510-Sat up onshore just soaking up the peace I feel in this place. I'm so grateful Lord!

I will prepare dinner of pizza, salad, and a cold beer.

Pizza For Dinner!

1645-Dinner is finished. Need to find some kindling for this eve's fire. Spotted a good dead firewood tree.

1730-Jumped in for a swim after dinner to cool off from the heat. Had Bailey's on ice for dessert. 81F/82F.

Moon Coming Up

2050-Sat by the fire until 2030 then took some shots of the moon. Still too hazy for good star viewing. Will read and hit the sack. I'm tired!

Temagami, Ontario - 9/15/2024

Trip Day 10 - Sunday

0630-60F/57F. Hazy and calm. Coffee is on!

Combination Of Early Morning Fog & Smoke Haze

0745-Verse for today: "For I desire mercy, not sacrifice, and acknowledgment of God rather than burnt offerings." (Hos 6:6)

Sun Rising  - Haze Adds To The Color

0925-Departed boat site. Sunny and calm. Listened to an audio book while underway.

1330-Decided to shift to Plan B since I already traveled 20.9 miles, a new daily record. I planned to anchor in Bleue Baie this evening for the family Zoom, but I got a good solar charge today and the island site I pulled into has a reasonable north exposure.

Navionics Track - 20.9 Miles

Western Shore Of Island Was Steep

Mostly Barren Island - Just A Big Rock!

1630-I tested Zoom and realized I set up the wrong Zoom meeting. It was supposed to be the kids, not the family today. That's what happens when I'm not looking at my Google calendar daily!

I made chicken tortilla soup, salad, rolls for dinner. White wine was served. 79F/83F. Warm day again but a breeze that helps.

2150-Zoom this evening was a complete bust! I was upset after all the effort to make it happen. My computer repeatedly crashed!

Then I finally go up to start the fire after that fiasco and the wood won't burn so the fire was a failure too! So disappointing after so many good fires. I picked up some firewood along the way that had been soaking up a lot of rain and was not dry.

Big Moon - Added To The Enjoyment Of The Site

But the moon was out bright and it was a beautiful evening that more than made up for the failures. Thank you Lord! Despite the disappointments I will sleep on the memory of a fine evening and all will be right in my little world!

0720-Study, prayer, and reading finished. Verse of the day: "Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light." (Mat 11:29-30). Time for breakfast.

I went ashore to retrieve my chair, ax, and one piece of wood, and pulled up the swim ladder before I made breakfast.

0800-Finished breakfast and will prepare the kayak to head down toward the dam.

Nice Open Boat Site

1300-Split some firewood for later. The primary solar panels are raised to maximize watts. Washed dishes. Now it is clouding up after the effort of raising the panels! Discouraging!

1500-Listened to an audio book then went swimming. It really felt good with 85F air temp and 83F in the cabin. Will hold off making dinner just yet.

1630-Kayaker stopped by to admire the boat. We talked for a while then he headed back to his Leisure Island Houseboat at a site just a bit south of me around the corner.

Made dinner of pork roast, potatoes, salad, rolls, and a cold beer.

1810-Sat up on the hill for a while then came back for strawberries and ice cream. Sun will set soon. I will start the fire then.

Nice View To SE - Another Fire Tonight!

2120-Went back up before sunset and took some video and pics. started the fire at sunset and hung out until now. Time to crawl into bed.
